American Airlines American Airlines

American Airlines is widely considered to be the largest airline in the world, flying more passengers and generating more revenue than any of its rivals. The company was established in 1931 and is based in Fort Worth, Texas, with Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport serving as its largest hub.

In total, the American Airlines fleet of more than 900 aircraft flies to 340+ global destinations; the second most of any airline. These destinations span four continents: North America, South America, Europe and Asia. The company is a member of the Oneworld airline alliance, coordinating services with the likes of British Airways and Qantas.

The airline's frequent flyers scheme, known as AAdvantage, was one of the first of its kind and currently has more than 60 million members. American Airlines is also one of the largest global air freight carriers and in 2014, it was named the 'Best Cargo Airline of the Americas' for the seventh year in a row.
