SriLankan Airlines
With its headquarters in Katunayake, Srilankan Airlines was originally known as Air Lanka when it was formed in 1978. Following a partial acquisition by Emirates in 1998, the airline was rebranded and Srilankan Airlines became the new name. It is the largest airline operator in Sri Lanka, but SriLankan Airlines is also provide more services to and from the Maldives than any other airline. It also boasts a significant presence in southern India, too.
Today, Srilankan Airlines provides passenger services with a fleet of over 20 aircraft which includes seven Airbus A320s, six A340-300s and five A330-200s. It is planning to augment this fleet with a number of new acquisitions from either Boeing or Airbus.
Srilankan Airlines was South Asia's first airline to provide on-board WiFi for passengers. It also operates cargo flights to a number of destinations, including Malé.
