Based at Honolulu International Airport, Hawaiian Airlines is the 8th largest airline in the United States and is widely regarded as one of the safest, having never suffered a fatal accident, or one that results in the loss of an aircraft, in its 86 year history. The airline also excels in achieving low cancellation and ticket overselling rates as well as operating with high level of punctuality.
In 1929, when the airline was launched as Inter-Island Airways, its purpose was to provide sightseeing flights over the island of Hawaii and it wasn’t until the 1980s that the company began to fly passengers to other destinations in the Pacific. Now, with 51 aircraft in its fleet, Hawaiian Airlines operates regular direct flights to a number of Asian-Pacific countries as well as Australia, New Zealand and China.
Hawaiian Airlines has received several awards from the travel industry as the best airlines serving the island of Hawaii.
