With its headquarters in Dublin, Aer Lingus is the national airline of Ireland, operating a fleet of 47 modern Airbuses. Carrying 10.6 million passengers per year on both mainline and regional franchise services, Aer Lingus also offers freight services, transporting cargo to and from the UK, Europe and north America.
In the last few years, Aer Lingus started domestic contract flying services in the UK, including services between London Heathrow and Aberdeen and between Edinburgh and Manchester, augmenting its services to and from Ireland. Aer Lingus, which was formed by the Irish government in 1936, has a distinctive shamrock logo which adorns the tailfins of its fleet.
In terms of its transatlantic services, Aer Lingus serves several cities in the United States. Unsurprisingly, the airline tends to operate in regions of America where members of the Irish-American diaspora are concentrated, in particular Boston, Chicago and New York.
